Licensed through the National Playground Safety Institute, Gym.Net is certified to conduct Playground Inspections and Audits!
The State of California Department of Health Services states that all public playgrounds must be initially inspected by a Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI) by October, 2000. All playground owners must have a signed audit of the playground and surrounding play areas. California Playground Safety Regulations require that all play areas must be inspected and approved by a Certified Playground Safety Inspector before the play area is opened to the public.
Audit vs Inspection
It should be noted that there is a major difference between an audit and an inspection of the playground.
The audit identifies the pieces that are on the playground, their current condition, and how they measure up to the ASTM and CPSC specifications. In addition, the surfacing and design of the play area are evaluated.
The audit forms the basis for the development of a master to plan to provide for the maintenance and upkeep of the playground, provide a plan for repairing and replacing equipment, create a system for continuously monitoring the safety of the play area as well as prioritizes actions needed for future upgrades.

Inspections can provide playground owners/operators information on the condition of existing equipment and the play area - typically used for training maintenance staff on the proper maintenance and upkeep of the playground, but also providing expert advice on the plans for repairing and replacing equipment, creating a system for continuous monitoring of the safety of the play area as well as prioritizing actions needed for future upgrades.
